volunteer Puls Adventure

Day 1 Khudi

Situated amidst the confluence of River Marsyangdi River and River Khudi is the world renowned Annapurna Round Trekking. The place has a mixed community of Newar, Tamang, Chhetri and Brahmin people. There are two small rope bridges for trekkers and one motorable bridge. On one side of the River Khudi is under Simpani Village Development Committee and on the other side is under Khudi Village Development Committee (A Village Development Committee is an administrative unit under the district). At a walking distance from Khudi Bazaar lies a Buddhist Monastery. This monastery is one among the four old Buddhist monasteries in the country. After heading few kilometers from Khudi, we will arrive at another beautiful placed called Bahrabise, from where we can get a panoramic view of waterfall, rivers, Manaslu mountain range including Ngabi peak, Himal chuli and beautiful Gurung villages.

There are 3 public schools and a private school in Khudi bazaar, amongst three public schools one is a higher secondary school where our participants will help to paint school and other activities.  At fringes of Khudi bazaar we can find village of lower caste which is one of the poorest and socially excluded community of Lamjung district.

Day 2nd –Bhalam Chaur

After four hour trek from Khudi Bazaar we will arrive at Bhalam chaur which is located in northern part of Khudi Bazar. Balam Chaur is Gurung majority village (Gurungs are one of the ethnic groups living mostly in the western mid hills of Nepal). In this village we can know and learn about Gurung Culture and their day-to-day life. From this village we can get a picturesque view of snow clad Manaslu Mountains and swift flowing River Marsyangdi.

At a 15 minutes walking distance from this village we arrive at the only Secondary School of Simpani VDC and 30 minutes far from here we arrive at a Lower Secondary school of Sagle Village. In the hill between Bhalam Chaur and Mirche there is a Primary Level School. Bhalam chuar is also a tourist village. Here there are about 6 houses which can accommodate tourist. Every house has their own bio-gas plant.

Day 3rd – Ghale Gaon- Ghanpokhara
Newly established as a tourist hot-spot, Ghalegaon-Ghanpokhora is well known in Village tourism. From here we get a clear and panoramic view of the beautiful Annapurna and Manaslu mountain range. Ghalegaon has about 33 houses with facilities to accommodate tourist and Ghanpokhora has about 10 houses for tourist accommodation. In between these two villages there is Nayu village which has 2 lodges for tourist and trekkers.

These villages are well known for gurung cultural dance and songs. This village with a Buddhist Monastery is also known for its tea garden, 2 beautiful lakes and Uttar Kanya hindu temple. From this beautiful village we can also see the the beautiful vallies carved by Marsyangdi, Khudi and Midim Rivers. And from this village, out of 75 districts of Nepal, we can see the mountain peaks of 16 districts of Nepal.

In and around these villages there are about 3 public colleges. Ghalegoan has one Primary Level School, Nayu has a Secondary School and about 1 hour walking distance from here there is another Secondary School in a village called Badhum. Majority of the population of these villages are gurung, however, we can find few households from chettri, an upper caste and Biswakarma, a lower caste group of people.

Day 5th-Bhujung

About 3 hours north-west from Ghalegaon-Ghanpokhora lies Bhujung, a village better known as a village and a VDC. There are about 365 household in this village. The Regional Office of ACAP is located in this village. We can get a very beautiful view of Lamjung Mountain from this village and can experience a typical Gurung culture, lifestyle and handicrafts. There is a micro hydro project in River Midim which is used to light up the village. The electricity so produced has helped the villagers in many ways.

On the way to the village there is one Secondary School. From here we can get a good view of the valley carved by Midim River and perennial water falls.

To the north of this village is a dense forest where varieties of wildlife and birds are found.. During baisakh-jestha (April- May), honey from wild bees is harvested.

Most of the schools have their own hostels. It is about 20 minutes steep walk downhill from school to village.

Day 6th – Pasgaon

At about 5 hours north from Bhujung lies Pasgaon.This village has about 135 households with mostly Gurung population and few households of Biswokarma, a lower caste group of Nepal. There is a Buddhist Monastery in this village. Houses here generally have slate roofs and the compounds are paved with specially chiseled stone slabs, a typical house of the mountains in Nepal. Covered almost in all side by thick forest, this village dates back roughly around 1000 years

There is an army camp located towards the north of this village. A village health post, a child development center and a secondary school is also located in this village.

About 7 hours walking distance from Bhujung and towards the north of Pasgaon, there is a big village called Sindhi. It is under Pasgaon VDC. There are about 275 household. There is a Primary Secondary School in this village.

Day 7th Nagidhar- Pakhurikot

At about 5 hours walking distance from Pasgaon and 5 hours walking distance towards the east of Sindhi lies the Nagidhar and Pakhurikot Village. Nagidhar is a majority Gurung Village while Pakhurikot is a village with mixed communities of Gurung, Chhetri, Brahmin and Biswakarma.

Nagidhar is rich in many resources while Pakhurikot is rich in scenic beauty, village tourism and ancient artifacts. Here there is a Buddhist Monastery built on the top of a hill.

In Pakhurikot and Nagidhar, there is one Primary Level School and at about 1 hour walking distance towards south is Gorge Secondary School. This village lies in Kaski District.
