About Us

The Hands for Help Nepal (H for H Nepal) is an autonomous, non-profit, non-governmental, social development organization, founded in 1996.This organization is a forum of social activists and development professionals.  Hands for Help Nepal was officially registered under the Nepal Society Act (2034 B.S.) in Kathmandu District Administration Office and affiliated with Social Welfare Council.

Since its inception, Hands for Help Nepal has been deploying numbers volunteers from various countries to respective projects and placements Nepal. Hands for Help Nepal volunteer programs in Nepal include for teaching, environmental awareness, helping deprived children, community support, health services, cultural exchanges and youth empowerment. This organization has been mandated by the Nepal government to mobilize communities towards sustainable development.

Mission
To provide and offer opportunities for both locals and international volunteers to interact in development and educational programs thus enabling them to gain experience and build their capacities for their lives and that of future generations.
 
Objectives
  •  Promote volunteerism and voluntary efforts in social and national development.
  • To encourage international and local volunteers towards volunteerism to contribute in the community development.
  • To support managerial skill to newly or previously set up orphanage and shelter homes.
  • To educate communities on the importance of education, English language and literacy, hygiene and sanitary living, and environmental management.
  • To apply new technologies stern knowledge, care methodology and experience on a variety of education and health matters to the village communities.
  • To provide education and vocational training for community youths in encouraging skilled manpower and create opportunities for self-employment.
  • To provide language lessons and cultural information for people who come to Nepal to study, conduct research, and do voluntary work.
  • To introduce volunteers to the richness of Nepali culture and ensure a safe and memorable stay in a supportive environment.

Vision
Contributing to enlarge opportunities of the deprived communities and enhancing individual and organizational capacity throughout the country through mobilizing volunteer activities.
 
Accomplishment 
Since it inception Hands for Help Nepal has successfully run following program with the coordination of Local Youth clubs, women group, NGOs. We have supported to Government local base branches in Kathmandu and Kaski Districts.

2001- Organized health Camps to provide free treatment and medicines to the pilgrims of Gageshwary festival in Gagalphedi. More than 700 patients were benefited in health camps. Medical and non-medical volunteers actively involved in health camp.

In the same year we have completely succeeded to Keep Plastic free region of three villages of Bhadrabas and two villages from Alapot with the coordination of Tribeni Youth Club Bhadrabas. We used “Each family each hook and a bucket” system to collect daily used plastic then sent to Center Garbage Land field.

Placed 63 international volunteers from North America, Europe, Australia and South Africa in public and private schools, orphanage homes, health post and disable centers in Kathmandu and Pokhara.

2002- Expanded project location outside of Kathmanu valley, Chitwan and Kaski District. Donated 2 still bookshelves and a Desktop computer set to Malpur School. In the same year supported to our volunteer Bret Hartson to run a computer teaching project specially Linux to the Bachhuli School and donated 10 computers.

79 international, 13 Nepali volunteers and 3 Nepali interns were placed in various project in Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kavre and Kaski Dirstrict.

Organized a fund raising program “Deusi” in the occasion of second biggest festival “Tihar”, raised 23,000 Rupees, and spent money to buy two Dining Tables and 80 pairs of flip flop for the kids of Helpless children Protection Home. The rest money went for sponsoring three poor kids.

2003- Organized inter school football tournament with the support of Triveni youth Club in Bhadrabas school, rewarded to two winners team with medal and cash prize.  

Organized teacher training program with help of an expatriate Mr Richard Cooper in Bhadrabas School and Ankur Biddhyasram Battisputali, 37 English Teachers from our partner schools were trained.

For building speaking confident we organized Leadership Skill Training to the youngster by hiring experts.

Donated Nepalese Rupees 100,000 each to  Kalika School and Health Center of Kaskikot, Sarangkot in order to renovate school and to buy medical equipment and supplies for Health post.

Placed 72 international volunteer in various projects around Kathmandu, Pokhara, chitwan and Kavre.

Organized a blood donation program with Novel Society, collected 59 pints of blood then donated to Central blood Bank.

2004- Organized two days alternative fuel the solar power demonstration to local villagers and schools students at the Balbikas Secondary school Alapot. We hired an expert Sanu Kaji Shrestha and his crew from FoST

Fixed environment friendly incinerator to burn medical wastes, a solar water pasteurization panel in the Regional health center, Alapot.

Fixed smokeless stoves which consume less firewood in the host families’ house in Gagalphedi village.

52 international and 9 Nepali volunteers were placed in different projects.

2005-
Donated a refrigerator and medical supplies to the Alapot center.

Raised fund, cloths and stationeries from private schools and taken school students to donate fund and supplies to donate orphanage homes in Kathmandu.

Organized a health camp in a rural village Bhugdeu, Kavre District distributed medicine to deprived villagers, with the coordination of international volunteers, Doctors and nurses from Nepal and medical representatives from pharmaceutical companies.

2006-
We have organized spoken English Language training Class and other vocational training for seven days to people who are going to work abroad specially Middle East and Malaysia.

We supported to build a fencing wall at the primary health care center with the coordination of another volunteer organization.

Donated a water tank and fixed a water tower, build a garden in Chapagoun health center.

Donated 9 cement ring in order to use garbage can, cleaned Bajrabarahi forest with coordination of local youth club.

We have supported to local orphanage homes Lili and Langtang in maintaining management.

Placed 72 volunteers from different part of the world


2007-
Organized ten days English language class and vocation training to the people who are going to abroad Middle East and Malaysia.

Organized a health camp in Chapagoun and Dhading  health center with a senior doctors group  from Australia. More than 600 patients were benefited. We also donated ECG machine and other medical supplies to chapagoun health center.
 
Provided lunch to deprived children from Thecho orphanage home fro 5 months and fixed slides, swing, and painted wall.

Placed 96 volunteers form different countries in different working locations.

Apart from above mentioned achievements we have involved in lots of other supports like donating cash and kind to needy community and orphanage homes. Moreover we have supported to natural calamities affected people. We are sponsoring some kids from a deprived family background for their education and our volunteers and program participants also involve in sponsoring kids.
